Can't open XPS file. Which app is responsible for this?

Abruptly, XPS files can't been open. Which app is responsible for this and which app do I need to set to open ..xps files?
PS: Vista Beta2 [Ultimate]

Thats strange, I recently downloaded the Vista Guide (xps format) on IE 7 in Vista and opened up just fine in the browser, thats how you view them by the way. Try Opening the files with Internet Explorer. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

It was opened in the Home version of Vista. After I reinstall to the Ultimate one I can't open it even in IE :(

XPS is a feature of all Editions of Vista. I can't diagnose why you are encountering this except for the XPS file being corrupted. My recommendation would be to download back the file again and try opening it. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

Your right - XPS is part of WinFX, and having the Beta 2 with WinFX preinstalled should let you view them in IE pretty well. However, if it doesn't, try installing WinFX again and hopefully this should fix it. http://msdn.microsoft.com/windowsvista/downloads/getthebeta/default.aspx

To actually answer your question, it's an app called XPSViewer.exe. Typing XPSViewer in the start menu search box found its folder for me (in system32 somewhere IIRC). It should also appear in the list of programs one can associate with a file type.

Nope, I can't find that. As far as I am aware, the only XPS tools in Vista is Internet Explorer 7 browser for viewing and the XPS Print driver for creating such content. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

I found that file and point it to open .XPS extentions, but IE starts blinking trying to create new instance and unloading it abruptly :(

Done for the couple of times. When I try to open it in IE, IE starts blinking trying to create new instance and unloading it abruptly :(

Ok, I just created a XPS file by printing through the XPS virtual printer in Wordpad, and saved the file. I was then able to open the file in the web browser.
Michael, try this: Open WordPad, type up something, anything Click File Click Print Select "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" Click Print Save the file (I saved mine in Documents, you can Desktop, anywhere you can locate the file).
double click the file you saved, and it will open in IE 7+, it will take a little while, I notice it is very slow to load.
I navigated to C: > Windows > SysWOW64 > XPSViewer > XPSViewer
Where SysWOW64 is would be System 32 on x86 Vista
I notice this folder was placed in the SysWOW64 folder after I printed the XPS file, but the XPSViewer refuses to launch, don't know why, guess its broken. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

Hmmm, in that case documet loaded correctly
But I note one thing that confuse me. When I save XPS document to the disk it showed as "XPS Document" in the Explorer But XPS "Windows_Vista_Product_Guide_Beta_2.xps" downloaded from Microsoft has "ZIP type file" label in the Type column of Explorer, notwithstanding the fact that it has XPS extention.
Any ideas?
